John, a resident in Japan for 20 years introduces the best Takoyaki in Tokyo. The host is seen in the middle of Ameyoko, the biggest street market in Tokyo. Not surprisingly, there is a long line of people at the destination. Takoyaki is one of the top street food among Okonomiyaki and yakisoba.

Chinatown in Yokohama which is about 30 miniute subway ride from the heart of Tokyo is the place to visit. The town's history dates back to 1859 when the port of Yokohama opened to foreign trade. It is now a thriving district with hundreds of stores and restaurants welcome tourists and locals. Many restaurant owners adjusted their cuisine to Japanese taste rather than serving authentic Chinese dishes in order to attract more customers.

Ueno station is Tokyo's major railway station opened in 1883 with convenient access to the Ueno district and Ueno Park—which contains Tokyo National Museum, The National Museum of Western Art, Ueno Zoo, Tokyo University of the Arts and other famous cultural facilities.
Drive 50 mph Through an Office Building

It's crazy enough to think of building a highway through an office building, but that's exactly what happened to Osaka's Gate Tower Building. But why you ask. This peculiar construction is the result of land right settlement. The property owner fought for 5 years to avoid yielding to the area's redevelopment. The final resolution was to build a highway without demolishing the building. Clever, yet peculiar settlement.
Getting Around in Ameyoko Street Market

Ameyoko, Tokyo's biggest street market has become widely diverse over the years. The street now has a range of ethnic food vendors, from Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, to Middle Eastern food shops among hard goods stores. Exploring this giant market alone is half a day event. John continues walking to find something appealing to eat.
