Although fruits are available at affordable prices in Japan for everyday shoppers, there are those come in a gift box at an eye-popping price sold at department stores. These are fruits with catchy brand names.  Ruby Roman grapes are priced at $13,000.  The box has only 30 grapes.  That's $430 per grape.  A pair of Yubari melon were sold for $36,000.  Why are they so expensive?  The farmers labor and their process determine the price.  These carefully grown fruits get the royal treatment for visually immaculate color, shape and sugar content.  They are harvested at exactly the right time.  People pay for the perfection.
