What an average Japanese family home looks like

Paolo takes us inside the house where Maiko grew up to show how an average Japanese family lives and spend New Year's holiday.  Although rural houses have bigger floor plans than a typical family home in Tokyo, space is a precious commodity.  The house is designed to conserve space for a family of four.  The family starts their day to prepare for New Year's Eve, the biggest holiday of the year.
