Shibamata is well known for Otoko Wa Tsuraiyo, one of the most popular Japanese movies. The famous long-running movie was filmed in this town. The tourists love the retro setting of the Showa era of 1926 through 1989. The town is the home of several Buddhist temples with beautiful architecture.
