Immersing in the culture of rural Japan

Dwindling population in Japan's countryside poses serious threat to the local economy as the community loses younger people to bigger cities where jobs are available.  The outbound population in addition to the younger age group uninterested in getting married and starting a family exacerbates the already senior-dominant communities.  Many rural towns are forced to close schools or even town itself when its economy becomes unsustainable.  The statistics reveals that nearly 28 percent of the general population of Japan is 65 or older.  The small towns are increasingly welcoming young immigrants from other countries who can help revive the community both in spirit and livelihood.
