For those of you just arrived from Americas or Europe, Japanese supermarkets are worth exploring. There are many unique items and surprise discoveries in grocery aisles.  Potatoes are smaller and eggplants are incredibly skinny as opposed to fat American ones.  Pre-cooked bacons are something that no international tourists think they exist.
